Community Safety Reminder
Eastern Shores remains one of North Miami Beach's most desirable neighborhoods — and keeping it that way requires all of us to stay vigilant. In recent weeks, the board has received reports of vehicle break-ins and suspicious activity near the residential streets west of 35th Avenue. We want to ensure every homeowner has the information they need to protect their property and their neighbors.
First and foremost: please secure your vehicles every night. Never leave your car key fob inside your vehicle. Lock your doors, roll up your windows, and remove any valuables — bags, electronics, and loose change included. Thieves target easy opportunities. A locked car with nothing visible is rarely worth the risk to a would-be burglar.
Ensure all exterior lights are functioning. Motion-sensor floodlights are one of the most effective deterrents available. If a light is out, replace the bulb this week — not next month. Well-lit homes and driveways dramatically reduce the risk of theft and trespassing.
The ESPOA board is actively coordinating with the North Miami Beach Police Department to increase patrols in our community. We have formally requested the deployment of roving patrol units during overnight hours and are advocating for a dedicated police substation near 35th Ave & 164th St. These conversations are ongoing and productive.
If you witness suspicious activity, do not confront the individual. Call NMB Police non-emergency immediately and, if the situation is urgent, call 911. The more information you can provide — vehicle description, direction of travel, physical description — the faster officers can respond.
We are a close-knit community, and our collective awareness is our greatest asset. Look out for your neighbors, report what doesn't look right, and keep each other informed. The board will continue to share updates as our security initiatives progress. If you see something, say something.
